Here is Pelikan Edelstein in Turmaline, what’s been deemed the “color of the year” for 2012. Pelikan is a German pen company, so their Edelstein line of jewel-tone inks have names in German. Tourmaline is a medium-to-deep raspberry pink. Other reviews have noted that this is supposed to be plummy, but I don’t get anything that purple.
It flows smoothly, is wet and dries nicely. When I loaded it into my Esterbrook for the first time, I dipped the nib too far and got it into the cap threads, so I keep finding pretty magenta patches on my ring finger. :P
I really like the bottle, which isn’t perfectly rectangular but sort of “squishes” into itself in the middle and adds to the way the glass flashes in the light. The packaging is pretty intricate and involves an interior box and even a pair of styrofoam squares for extra security!
The closest other ink I have to this in my collection is J. Herbin Larmes de Cassis, but it’s a separate shade of reddish pink. My first Pelikan ink, and I like it!
